So. What’s been going on? Not too much. The May issue of ION came out a couple of weeks ago. My section featured a 4 page story on art students from ECIAD, OCAD, ACAD and Concordia. Get it here, or on the Art page, of course.
Speaking of ION, I should probably let you know that the June/July issue will be my last as the Arts and Culture editor. Obviously, since I’m moving to Toronto, I have to leave. Being let quit is still sort of hard, though. Sad, in a way. I don’t really think the Arts and Culture section was a good fit in ION anyway, so it’s not a major loss on either side, but I still enjoyed being there. Ah well. Change is good. And Ladytron is playing our 4th Anniversary Party in a couple of weeks, so there’s much to look forward to before I go.
I’ve also given notice at Beyond Robson, so you won’t be seeing blogs from me on that site anymore. I may stay in the Fresh Daily family and move over to BlogTO once I’ve settled myself in the Smoke, but I haven’t decided yet. Blogging, even for dollars, is sort of a time suck. Plus, it has so little to do with professional writing and real journalism and I’m never sure if I should be bothered. People who aspire to be writers think it helps their careers, but I think blogging may actually be a hinderance. It’s something I should probably think about.
What else, what else, what else?
Well, the Gilmore Girls series finale is on tonight, marking what will likely be my last Girls’ Night Hurly Burly in Vancouver. So sad! Having girls to hang out with has been great and giving up our silly TV nights is going to be one of the worst things about leaving this city.
Anyway, I think that’s it. D and I hosted my going away party on Saturday night. Photos are on facebook if you know me, flickr if you don’t. I got a haircut and am unsure about my bangs. What do you think?
Back to the boxes I go,
